When I was very young I broke the femur bone in my left leg. For many years now I have noticed significant aches in my
upper leg about a day or so before the weather tends to turn bad. Whether it be rain or an overcast day, or damp. |
|
I don't claim to be psychic or that I can predict the weather. |
It's just something I've noticed over the years. |

Headaches a day before, which continue throughout the storm. Pain all over my body. The longer the pressure is low, the more painful it gets, especially in my legs and hips. Find
it difficult to move too from the joint pain. Pressure behind my face, in my sinuses. High pitched ringing (more like a long beep really) in my ears on and off throughout. |
Get quite angry. A bit sharp with people. Lethargic. Become more aware of non-physical things if that counts. |

I've had migraines since early childhood. At the age of 15 the migraines went to a new horrific level. The weather & all changes in pressure affect my migraines without
doubt. Around 1 day or 2 from a regular thunder storm I'll start having a headache. The pain is usually relieved when the rain starts but if the storm is big or intense this isn't the case. Intensity varies with the severity of
the storm. Also bigger storms receive an earlier warning. I live in so. Arkansas but I usually can feel a hurricane about about 1 wk. before it hits Louisiana. Tornado producing storms in my general area send me into a
paralyzing migraine. Also earthquakes weren't mentioned but they affect them as well.
The 1st time I noticed this was spring '07. I had a migraine that lasted for a solid wk & ended 1 morning with what was the oddest case of vertigo I'd ever had! I felt like I was shaking, not spinning. I woke up my boyfriend
& he said he felt nothing. Later that day the local news reported an earthquake about 15 minutes away from my college dormitory.
I was surprised to find information online about this & I'm glad to know I'm not alone. The logic side of my brain questions it a bit but I actually had a neurologist who totally supported the idea.
As far as the psychic bit - I'm afraid I don't know where I'd fall. I've had minor training with a neo-pagan high priestess who said I had a natural talent. I'm empathic & a good guesser. I "know" when people close to
me die (like to the minute-even if its unexpected) & have a talent for mind reading. I'm also really good at what I call "translating." People in general, often have the problem of not saying what they actually mean. I can
understand without actually listening to the words a person is saying & explain what is actually meant. This helps in arguments when people are agreeing without knowing they agree. LOL |

I have migraines. One Dr. called them "atypical migraines" because they're occasionally painless but have most other classic symptoms. They have a much longer aura phase &
have large environmental triggers- like storms. I get into the aura/pain phases 12-24 hr's before a storm. I'm still trying to link prodrome phase symptoms, but may have them for 2 days before. If it's going to be a long storm,
they last well into it with a long postdrome phase, but if the storm is short, they end when the rain starts & the postdrome phase is short or not present. Symptoms include increased problems from Irlen's syndrome, nausea,
pressure behind my right eye, phonophobia, numbness in my face (mostly aura phase), & weakness. The headaches are defiantly predictive. |
I'm happy someone
is collecting data. |

My limbs ache 12-24 hours before any front comes through. It's usually limited to my lower left leg, just below the knee, but major storms make both legs ache (femurs,
too) & sometimes bring achy forearms and hips as well. Over-the-counter pain relievers sometimes help, but not always. My entire family experiences aches before storms. I grew up aware of this connection between fronts & aches
but thought it was common & never questioned it. |
No mood symptoms. |

I thought there'd be a lot more on this, but there really isn't - aside from what you've posted. |

MOOD: I am vulnerable to feeling rather depressed, lethargic, moody, concentration wanes for extended periods of time, and generally crabby when a storm or "front" moves
in. I am aware of this negative overall feeling a few hours before the clouds converge. My mood improves significantly, about an hour or so after the clouds have passed and I am "back in the saddle". This scenario plays out each
time a front moves in to varying degrees depending upon the intensity of the pressure rather than the amount of rain. I also feel measurably better when the rain actually begins to fall as the pressure subsides.
I also have ADHD. |
I'm planning to
move to a state with more year-round sunshine. |

I usually get headaches or migraines, with blurred vision and pressure in my head about 12 to 24 hours before a storm arrives. Experience very low energy. |

4-12 hrs before storms (or major pressure change) I get migraines with blurred vision, sensitivity to light & sound. The pressure in the head is always in the same
location & feels like a drill in my brain. The length of my migraine is proportional to the length of the storm or pressure change, i.e.: a headache that lasts ~4 hrs could "predict" a storm to last about 8 hrs.

I'm glad someone is doing research on this. |

I always get headaches before a storm - really painful ones and my vision can sometimes be a little woolly. I've had them up to 1 week before a storm and clearly remember
1 time at my grandparents when they were so that bad I nearly admitted myself. I'm usually more irritable too but think this has to do with the pain. |

It is good to see somebody doing this type of study. |

I am a scientist who has been observing my behaviour prior to storms or rain for many years. I can predict when it is going to rain. For at least the last 15 years, the
day before a storm, almost always I have become sadder than usual and anxious (worry) about rather trivial things. During the last couple of years, I have begun to get forehead pressure, the day before a storm. Psychological
and physical symptoms are most intense just prior to the rain coming down and disappear shortly thereafter. |
I am sadder and anxious the day before rain. |
neither ~ however,
I'm highly creative |
I appreciate your initiative on this & thank you. I'd participate in a
formal study of this phenomenon. |

April 19, 2007: I just had the thought that perhaps BDS was the trigger point for the VA Tech shooter. In Durham NC the barometric pressure dropped to a
record low on April 15th (the day before the shootings). The pressure at RDU Airport was the lowest in 13 years (985 mb)! After the VA Tech shootings, I wondered aloud if the shooter could've also been effected by the weather
changes? My pregnant wife went into labor that day -eventually giving birth. The MD's & RN's at the hospital said that the barometric pressure was probably the reason that her water broke 3 wks early. |

BDS & BONES...I'm 22 yrs. old. I've broken 7 or 8 bones from my thumb to my knee - femur & more. I've dislocated my shoulder & pinky & torn the meniscus in my bad
shoulder. I've also had surgery on my right hand middle knuckle. I can predict storms 1, 2 or 3 days in advance. Old injury areas hurt/ache. I can almost always tell if it'll rain & when. On occasion, I can tell when it will
snow. Once a storm arrives, 99% of the time all the pain subsides. When any crazy weather pattern occurs, I'm in pain.
Some say it's psychological & that when it's warm you don't think about pain as much as when it is gloomy. I say it's not psychologically based. On a sunny day, I can tell if it will rain soon due to pain level. The pain felt
before a storm is very real. One thing I've yet to figure out is that some storms cause all of my injuries to ache before arrival, while others only cause certain injuries to ache. Also, when I broke my femur a metal rod was put
in place with 2 screws. All of the metal is out now, but at times, the spot where the screws were will hurt more than other places where actual breaks, tears or dislocations occurred. Sometimes, my dislocated shoulder will ache
more than the breaks - other times minor breaks may or may not ache more than the severe breaks. I also broke my heal, which is the only injury different from the others in that it doesn't ache before a storm, but I can tell a
storm is coming - it doesn't feel the same...like it's itchy inside & it's bothersome. There is nothing I can do to alleviate any of this associated pain before a storm.
